The University of Trento (UNITN) is one of the top ranked small Italian universities. It is the only italian university selected by the EU to carry out an Erasmus-Mundus programme in computer science with topics on software engineering and bioinformatics. The Dipartimento di Informatica e Telecomunicazioni (DIT) has computing facilities for research and education, including many servers and personal machines (about 500) deployed in laboratories and offices. DIT has 35 faculty members with good research records and about 120 Ph.D. and Post-doc students. The main areas of research cover: bioinformatics, programming languages, formal methods, software engineering, multimedia, data bases and information retrieval. DIT is involved as partner or coordinator in many national and international projects and has research contracts with several computer companies. Main contributions of the University of Trento to SENSORIA are in the areas of concurrent, distributed and mobile programming, security, and quantitative analysis. |
