Sensoria Bibliography Site JSCL: A Middleware for Service Coordination
Gianluigi Ferrari, Roberto Guanciale, Daniele Strollo
abstract:
We describe the design of a programming middleware for coordinating services involving mobile devices and intra-net applications. In such scenario, coordination activities require interactions among services distributed over heterogeneous ad-hoc networks that hide their addresses. Our goal is to supply a network programming model addressing interoperability while avoiding centralization. We reach our goal through the introduction of a primitive for the dynamic publication of the same service to several intermediate gateways. In this paper, we discuss the design choices of our middleware. We illustrate the problems posed by relaxing the public addressing schema in the context of service orchestration. Then we present the formal foundations of our approach and we discuss the actual network technologies underlying the prototype implementation.
