MIP was born out of the partnership of the university Politecnico di Milano, the first technology institution in Italy, and some of the most important Italian and international multinationals. Its MBA program, taught both in Italian and English, was rated first MBA in Italy in terms of student quality and offers students real business-world experience.

Both MIP's high educational standards and its partnership with companies make MIP a thriving center of study. MIP pays particular attention to technology as an innovation tool, but it does not deal with technology. From its engineering tradition it has inherited a systems theory approach to problems and a push to research concrete solutions.

The group of the MIP works intensively with different companies, in Italy and in Europe. Main contribution of MIP to SENSORIA is the incorporation of the project results in management courses and presentations for the industry and government. For these organizations, the results of SENSORIA are highly relevant, considering the strategic development of most software systems based on service-oriented architecture.
